“September is the January of fashion,” declared Candy Pratts Price, a former American Vogue editor in the 2009 documentary The September Issue. For us fashion folk, September marks the beginning of the fashion calendar, a time when styles are reviewed, wardrobes are updated and editors, writers, buyers and celebs flock to the fashion capitals in search of inspiration. And after a tumultuous few years, it seems that this September the fashion industry is full steam ahead.

Just in time for this fashion month’s festivities, the showstopping accessories we saw way back when (well, February which after an eventful summer feels aeons away), and we can't wait to sink our teeth into the new styles we've been pining after for over half a year. But trudging through the New In pages on your favourite retail sites is no easy feat when there is so much on offer. So, we’ve rounded up our picks of the best Autumn/Winter 2023 accessories we’re most excited about.

The Revival of The Fittest

Did you recognise this chic accessory when it rose from the ashes back in February? Us too! In the interim between Alessandro Michele’s exit and Sabato De Sarno’s entry, the in-house Gucci design team looked back to revive the house’s storied archive and this little number was a standout; re-imagining Tom Ford’s trapezoid-shaped horsebit bag was a moment of inspired desire, as it hasn't appeared on the runway since his departure in 2004. Now available in a myriad of punchy hues, from lime and purple to racing stripe red, this is a firm fixture on our wishlist, channelling just the right amount of early 00s nostalgia.

A Match Made in Heaven

When we heard that two of our favourite London-based brands were teaming up for an accessories collab we couldn't control our excitement. We’ve been big fans of Completedworks’ sculptural jewellery offering for the past decade and working with newcomers to the LFW schedule last Feb, Tove, seemed like a natural progression. The result? A series of accessories perfect for elevating the subtly chic looks Tove has grown synonymous with. These hand-forged floral earrings that hark back to the heydays of the late Mary Quant are a worthy investment for any statement accessory advocate this autumn.

If The Shoe Fits?

The moment these pointed pumps first set foot on the Prada runway we bookmarked them as the shoe season. Their ornamental origami-like detail offset the collection’s structured, uniform silhouettes to full effect, in Muiccia and Raf’s proposed wardrobe for the elevated everyday. In a collection celebrating both weddings and workwear, these shoes were the cherry on top of the cake. Beautiful and decorative but technical and with a sensible heel height in true Prada spirit!
