There is more to prints this summer than the obvious floral. We love the quirky new off-beat patterns which are an opportunity to add some humour to our daily fashion. Inspired by Jackson Pollock, the London Planetarium or Royal Ascot, a printed trophy purse can be the perfect way to show that a little goes a long way.  While you don’t necessarily want to parade a full psychedelic-printed look, a patterned hand-held wonder will make the perfect fashion partner.

Mark Cross small Grace box bag, £1,760

This multicoloured box of wonders is making us overwhelmed with waves of joy. The metallic shades of yellow, orange and raspberry-pink in saffiano calf leather combined with the 18kt gold-plated brass hardware screams luxury that allows the simplest of outfits look gala-worthy. We would pair this Mark Cross Grace bag with layers of white for the full colour effect.

Stella McCartney horse-pattern canvas bag, £225

We’re getting off our high horses when it comes to this Stella McCartney cotton beach tote. The designer’s now monochromatic equestrian print has become a collection staple, and in the shape of a large canvas bag with a cross-body strap – it’s our new beach favourite. Wear with a bright-hued one-piece bathing suit and a pair of white slides for an eye-catching pool-side look.

Pierre Hardy Prism, £335

Jackson Pollock comes alive in the shape of an envelope clutch bag by Pierre Hardy. This speckled piece of wearable art combines printed lamb’s leather with a shiny white patent leather geometric closure and will add a great splash of colour to your classic evening look. Either a black tuxedo or a slinky black maxi dress will do the trick.

MiuMiu planet-print backpack, £860

Miuccia Prada goes celestial with this cotton-canvas planet-printed backpack. A fiery colour scheme and leather detailing combined with the simple silhouette allows this luxury piece of sporty luggage to work throughout both day and night. Wear this MiuMiu backpack with a floral maxi dress layered with ripped jeans and a pair of ballet flats – you’re going to look other-worldly chic.

Chloé small Nile python-effect cross-body bag, £1,775

Leopard, tiger, zebra? We think python might be our new favourite animal print. The new favourite in the small bags category, Chloé’s Nile bag just might be the perfect way to show it. Between the saddle shape, the textured leather and the statement brassy hardware, you only need a simple black shift dress to makes this hand-held wonder work.
