In the wild anticipation that surrounded the UK arrival of Savage Beauty, it was easy to overlook the behind-the-scenes photographic collaborations that helped to build the Alexander McQueen myth. Tate Britain pays proper tribute with a new exhibition, Working Process, detailing the partnership between designer and the photographer Nick Waplington, who documented the McQueen studio’s frenetic activity for one intense season – McQueen’s last complete autumn/ winter collection, Horn of Plenty, from 2009. It offers an intimate glimpse into a candid, unpolished world that is bursting with creative concentration.

At Tate Britain until 17 May
