Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley launch label
Today, Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley have announced their new luxury clothing and accessories brand Hillier Bartley. Having presented the collection to a select group of buyers earlier in the month, the brand will debut a collection of women’s ready to wear, bags and accessories for release in August.

Continuing a partnership that transcends work (the two have been friends for years before entering business together) the duo have pooled their creativity and wealth of experience to produce a collection which is a very english affair. All items save for a selection of bags produced outside Venice, have been manufactured in the UK and fabrics have been sourced mainly from British mills. Expect sharp tailoring and a masculine elegance realised in Savile Row cloths, velvets, silks and fine wools. Hillier explains, “we are finally putting all our experience into making something that's a reflection of us...I’m really proud of what we’ve made – the craftsmanship, attention to detail and design.”

Hillier and Bartley, fresh from showing their third collection for Marc by Marc Jacobs have a different woman in mind from that of the bright, bold and politically charged looks we saw on the catwalk this season. As well as looking to the women around them for the brand’s debut collection, for Bartley “its ultimate heroine lies somewhere between Ian McCulloch and Katherine Hepburn. Its about a woman our age, indie by heart, rakish and irreverent by nature, who is maturing into refinement and naturalness.”

Valentino presents new Mime collection
From the Valentino SS15 collection comes Mime, a range of accessories featuring patterns inspired by traditional italian design. Created by designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, the collection is available in five colours and showcases a combination of differing floral motifs - blossom, arabesque, leaf, flower eyes or flower dots. Mime revisits The Grand Tour, an 18th Century italian practice which encouraged young people to embark on a cultural pilgrimage to explore Italy’s historical and artistic sites. The collection pays tribute to this ancient tradition through the series of campaign shots and a hypnotic short film.
