CHRISTIE FELS, HEAD WOMENSWEAR BUYER AT HOSTEM CHAMPIONING BÂBA
“This season we’re excited to present Bâba, a new Londonbased, luxury, handcrafted shoe label co-founded by Gabriella Massey and Melissa Thompson. Their SS15 collection, Timiditine, spans boots, shoes and blankets, all dyed with indigo pigment from North Africa. Their unlined thigh boots in midnight suede, low boots in indigo calf leather and slipper shoes in unlined indigo-dyed cordovan challenge the perception of traditional shoemaking being made up of Oxfords, brogues and monkstraps. Bâba is proving that craftsmanship and quality have a place in women’s footwear – and they can be very sexy.”

CLAIRE MILES, SENIOR BUYER AT THE SHOP AT BLUEBIRD CHAMPIONING BARBARA CASASOLA
“Since the inaugural collection from her eponymous label, Barbara Casasola has captured and held firm our attention. With her sensual Brazilian aesthetic and her ability to create relaxed yet sensationally captivating collections, she has carved a position for herself as one of The Shop at Bluebird’s most sought-after brands. We’ve watched her collections evolve gently without rushing into expansion, meaning she always stays true to her signature aesthetic. This makes the buying process so much easier and enjoyable – we know what we should or could expect, yet we are always surprised and delighted. Barbara is a TSAB customer herself, which makes her label a perfect fit for us. Barbara Casasola, both the label and its creator, encapsulate the Bluebird customer – effortlessly stylish, with a way of dressing that is not easily replicated.”

TENA STROK, DIRECTOR AND HEAD BUYER AT CELESTINE ELEVEN CHAMPIONING CLAIRE BARROW
“Claire seems to have set about elegantly redefining that somewhat frowned-upon word, ‘playful’. And judging by the industry response to her past few seasons, we were all ready for something a bit more lighthearted. We think our customers will agree. Her eponymous line will be in store for the first time this SS15. Lightheartedness, however, should not be mistaken for diaphanous silhouettes and florals – unless they’re hand-painted onto leather. Claire Barrow has also taken the revolutionary torch from Meadham Kirchhoff on the London Fashion Week schedule this season, using clothing as a commentary on subculture and politics.”

SAMUEL SMITH, FASHION DIRECTOR AT OKI-NI CHAMPIONING PUBLIC SCHOOL
“Awards ceremonies – whether the Oscars, the Emmys or the Golden Globes – are a big deal. You can be sure you’ll spot Christoph Waltz, Matthew McConaughey, the dad from Malcolm in the Middle – big names, winning big. You can now add Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osbourne of Public School to the winners’ list. In June 2013, the guys won the CFDA Award for Emerging Talent in Menswear, and then in November they won another, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award, beating nine other nominees. So what does the fashion equivalent of Django Unchained mixed with True Detective mean for SS15? It’s a New York aesthetic that is perfectly balanced between athletic wear and luxury tailoring, and a collection that knows it takes more than just neoprene to create a desirable, quality product with subtle design cues.”
